THE DUNDAS VALLEY ORCHESTRA

Since 1978, the Dundas Valley Orchestra has been presenting free concerts to the residents of Dundas and surrounding communities. The DVO also gives amateur musicians in our communities a place to play in a full symphony orchestra and perform music from exiting pops to great orchestral classics. We are the orchestra-in-residence at St. Paul’s United Church in Dundas and present our main concert series in the beautiful acoustics of St. Paul’s.

One of the founding missions of the orchestra is to bring live music into retirement homes and long-term care facilities. We are very committed to this important part of our mission. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to find innovative ways to perform in retirement homes. The result is our Small Ensembles Program. String quartets, woodwind and brass ensembles, a celtic group and a variety of duets and trios were formed to give us the flexibility we needed to perform in retirement homes and spaces that are too small for the full orchestra.

The DVO is happy to be part of this year’s Cactus Festival! Many of our small ensembles will be participating. Our brass group will be performing in the parade and our celtic groups, string quartet and duos will be performing on the OLG stage on Friday August 18.
